 Data Import/ Export functionality from UI

Hi All,

 

We are working on a requirement to expose Import/ Export functionality (in Select Action) in Maximo 7.6. As part of export file, we are trying to customize the column order in output export files.

Right now, system is exporting data based on attribute names defined in Database Configurations.

 

We have tried to add prefix/s to the alias, For example: [1_,2_,3_,…] or [A_,B_C_] but it not working.

Any inputs will help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

I have tried changing aliases at the object structure level and the alias at the maxattribute level. Both failed to change the ordering. I don't think you are going to have much luck getting the ordering to change. Depending on the requirements an automation script might work well. You could expose the automation script so that it would run on the set of records, like the export functionality,  and write the file with the columns in the order you would like. Getting the file to be easily accessible via the UI is a challenge that you would be introducing. 

Another option might be to script something that could be run on the file once exported. This would require the client to export and then run the file through a desktop script. 

Without know exactly why they want the columns in a specific order and the full requirements it is hard to say if there is a cleaner solution out there.
