Hello Steven
Thanks for your reply. To answer your question, Images are embedded in Rich text for us.
I think the problem lies with the BIRT Designer itself. When PDF is created directly from designer it does not show the image as well .
I found the work around for this one in Maximo. once report runs is complete in browser it can be converted to word 2007, from there it can be printed to pdf or be printed directly. the thing is direct print for the workorder will not work if it has images in long description this way(yes and it adds some extra steps )
For your image going away in the long description this could be the cause.

Are your images actually embedded (copy and paste the image itself) or are they URL links to another resource? On 7.6.0.9 IFIX 08 and 7.6.1.2 I'm actually struggling to create the embedded images in core Maximo to test that (the image is deleted each time the rich text viewer is closed). URL based seem to work for me on 7.6.1.2, at least when the setting is 0.
For what it's worth, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if the system property isn't being evaluated somewhere and thus the logic to strip out the image is occurring all the time. This was a big problem for us at one point.
