    Posted 11-06-2020 13:45

Each month we plan to invite different Maximo experts in the MORE Community to host a webinar around a certain topic (or tag!) within the community. These sessions will be driven by you, the end-user. Post your questions below, or describe what you are looking to achieve in as much or little detail as you have, and we will focus on getting answers, and presenting them during the session. We will also take questions live, and the entire event will be recorded and made available in the MORE community in case you need a reference later, or are unable to attend.

Your expert for the first session will be @Christopher Winston who has been and still is a user of Maximo since 1996, as well as consultant, trainer, and developer/deliverer of many Maximo videos on Projetech's youtube channel.

Register for the Live Webinar Here

Questions can be related to Modules, Applications and Start Centers, Queries / Navigation, Query Based Reporting, and more, so feel free.

We encourage you to post your questions below, however, if you want to ask questions anonymously... Submit Here!

Is there a way to store panel schedule information in MAXIMO better than a simple attachment to an asset? Something that is searchable or reportable?

William, can you provide a little detail on what 'panel schedule information' is and is the asset a panel, or something else?

Yes the asset is a panel board. I am talking about the information such as the voltage and amperage of the panel, what feeds it, and the individual circuit ratings and feeds. We are currently using a classification on the specifications tab but it is cumbersome and not real user friendly to go through 95 different rows in the specification.

Hi, you might explore using a location hierarchy (a new system) to capture your switchboard panels and sub panels components. This provides an opportunity to see the layout as well (you might even capture transfer switching). There are limitations, so explore this in a dev/test env before you embed something in your production environment that is challenging to undo.

The end user experience tends to relate heavily on getting data in or out of Maximo from both the technical aspect of what application and navigation, to the conceptual aspect of determining which applications to use and prioritizing them in implementation. These questions often come in the form of 'how do i...?', or 'can Maximo do this...?' or 'is there an easier way to...?' and can be related to Modules, Applications and Start Centers, Queries / Navigation, Query Based Reporting and more. The MORE Community wants to help answer all of your end user questions. To expand on this a little for clarification,

...how do I:  update scheduled report recipients? They change, and deleting and re-creating the report schedule is cumbersome.

Answer: As of 7.6.1.1, and probably earlier than that, you can modify the list. Take a look here: https://moremaximo.com/viewdocument/how-to-schedule-reports-in-maximo?LibraryFolderKey=ed15da6c-c883-4b05-967d-debf443a4ea2&DefaultView=folder

...can maximo do this: I need a way to search for work orders I have worked on with other criteria. I can use labor reporting, but then I need to hyperlink to each work order to get details and can't do reporting. AND: I need a way to search for work orders where certain parts were issued, and need to have custom sql written for me to put in a query and then edit it each time.

Answer: Both of these can be addressed by having the advanced search modified to include the necessary fields added and leverage the existing relationships already in Maximo as delivered. A good example is here https://youtu.be/5RSe5s5FfeU and your administrator can make the change for all users.

...is there an easier way to update labor availability other than 1 labor / person record at a time?

Answer: Yes. Even if you have older version of scheduler, Assignment Manager is the best place for this task and a video is here: https://youtu.be/7Gz2_zyIhyE
If you upgrade to Scheduler 7.6.8, you will pick up Graphical Work Week, which will make it even easier.
