  • 1.  Scheduled Start date - 2 different dates?

    Hello All,

I recently set up a result set for my maintenance guys that shows work assigned to them. In this I used "Scheduled Start Date" to show when their work is scheduled to be completed, and they can filter/sort by date. I found out afterwards that this date is pulling from the Work Order tab instead of the Assignment tab. I thought these were the same dates so I'm not sure how to get around this. Any insight is appreciated!

    Krystal,

You can show details from the Assignment record, like the Scheduled Start/Finish Dates, in a Start Center Result Set by utilizing a Reporting Object Structure to relate the WORKORDER table to the ASSIGNMENT table.

    The general steps are:
    1. Create a Reporting Object Structure in the Integration > Object Structures application
    2. Grant security access to the Reporting Object Structure in the Administration > Report Administration application
    3. Use the new Reporting Object Structure in the Result Set portlet

One thing to be careful of is that there can be multiple Assignments for a given Work Order. If you are limiting yourself to a single Assignment per Work Order then there's nothing to worry about. But if you have multiple Assignments per Work Order, then you'll need to consider which of the Assignment records will show in the Result Set for a single Work Order.

Let me know if you have follow up questions. Happy to help.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for responding! I'm thinking my current Maximo rights do not give me access to this. I cannot find Integration or Object Structures in my current modules. Can you point me in the right direction? I'm currently chasing down getting the access to create Ad Hoc Reports and that so far has been painfull at my company.

I'm not finding good online tutorials for performing this in your Maximo application. This is the best link I could find:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/result-set-portlet-76

You will need security access to the Object Structures application to enable this functionality. This is something that is typically only handled by system administrators, though your security setup might be different. If you're not seeing the Object Structures application in the Integration module from your list of applications, then you don't have access to the application and will need some help setting this up.

This would be a good topic for a future blog article. I'll reply back when I get the chance to write it up.

Try using a relationship to the assignment table to get the date you need.

    Hi Wes,

Thanks for responding to my question! Can you give me a little more direction by what you mean by a relationship to the assignment table? I haven't been able to find a way to connect them.

    Hi Krystal,

Everyone's reply is good with good advice.  To choose the Scheduled Start from the Assignment to display on your Result Set, you would need to modify the Report Object Structure (ROS) in the Object Structure application.  To do this, you simply add a new row and use the relationship between the Assignment table and the work order table.  This relationship already exists so that part is easy.  Alex makes a good point though - the Assignment table can have multiple rows associated with the same work order so it isn't a 1:1 relationship.   See the tech note below for more details and a property that needs to be set to pick fields from an object that doesn't have a 1:1 relationship.

I sent you a message with my email address.  Feel free to shoot me an email and I can better explain and show you how to set this up via a quick Webex.  Seeing things versus reading is always easier for me to understand.   I'll also explain the Assignment Scheduled Start versus the Work Order Scheduled Start and how they work together.
