I am wondering how many organizations use the Item Assembly Structure functionality in Maximo. There is very little on it and how it works in the IBM help files. Literally only this single document: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/maximo-manage/cd?topic=overview-item-assembly-structures

I think we have figured out the process. However, seems very clumsy that after you issue the parent rotating asset of the item assembly structure, you would need to open that asset record and use the More Actions feature to Issue the Items from the Storeroom to get the spare parts to actually move out of the storeroom. The spare parts do not show as being issued on the work order when you do this either. It only lowers your inventory balance. Is this really the only way to get those sub-assembly spare parts out of the storeroom? Here are the steps I took.

1. Build the Item Sub-Assembly with the parent Item being a rotating Asset/Item.
2. Create a work order to install the Item Sub-Assembly.
3. Add the Item record for the sub-assembly on the Plans tab and Materials sub-tab.
4. Approve the work order.
5. Issue the Item Sub-Assembly to the work order. The parent item is my only rotating item, so I only had to select the appropriate asset record for this item.
6. Open the Asset record for the parent rotating item/asset. 
7. Use the More Actions option to Issue the Items from the Storeroom. I had to add each of the sub-assembly spare parts individually in this dialog box. 
8. The balance of the items lowered in my storeroom, but there is nothing on the Actuals tab under the Materials sub tab that says I also recieved those spare parts.
