For Object Level in Database Configuration, which is used to link two objects and can be used in mainly application designers and automation scripts to fetch the dataset from mbo to the child object.

And more specifically, to link to an object in the object structure, you can read the below article, which helps you to know how relationships are used at the object structure level, which is commonly used in reporting object structure (Start Center) and integration (migration manager) object structure.
