  • 1.  Inventory Reserved Quantities

    Posted 16 days ago

I'm looking for information about the reserved quantity fields in the inventory application. The fields I'm primarily interested in are the quantity currently reserved, the hard reserved quantity, and the soft reserved quantity fields. I would like to find out which activities in Maximo update these quantities, and I'm also interested in how these quantities might impact the ability to issue an item that has one or more of these reserved quantities populated.

e had assumed that at a minimum these quantities would be updated by adding items to the planned materials for work orders and the subsequent inventory transactions that would issue the items to the work orders, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Any information that you could provide or documentation that you could direct me to about the purpose of these fields and how they are updated would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Jim

    Hi @Jim Dutton!

It's how you think. Reservations are created from materials planning in WO, and when you submit Material Requisitions (in "Self Service -> Desktop Requisition -> Create Requisition"). I would need to check if the PM forecast too (when you create forecasts in PM, it's can be easily tested in the system).

But in WOs, the planning stages are determined by the states, that is, while the WOs are in planning ("Waiting on") no reservations are created. They are created when the WO is approved or in execution (APPROVED, IN PROGRESS, etc.). Do the same test, but change the status in WO to one of these states and you will see the changes in the reserved quantities.

HARD, discounts the available amount and SOFT does not, it only informs the reservation and AUTOMATIC, it becomes HARD or SOFT depending on the date of need vs. the delivery time that is configured in ITEM. If you plan a material and set it that you need it between in 4 days, and the delivery time (appears like "Lead Time (Days)" in "Reorder Details" TAB in Inventory APP) for that material is 3 days, it will be HARD. If it is 5 days, it will be SOFT until tomorrow and it will be set to HARD.

    I hope it helps you.

    Regards!
