Is anyone is currently using DataSplice Mobile for Maximo through Prometheus.  I am looking for some information or examples of the Inspection Forms application that you currently use.  We are currently using the Inspection Work Center in Maximo however Datasplice does not support the work centers as they have there own application.  Any information or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey,

I've worked with it quite a bit. I might be able to answer any specific questions you have on the DataSplice forms plugin.

All the inspection config is done in DataSplice, either the admin console or the UI. I usually set it up so that the inspection is started from inside a WO or Task. When the inspection is done it attaches a report to the WO. The default report is link that generates the report on the DataSplice server. There is functionality to create a pdf report and attach it to the WO. There are hooks that let you update meters and\or specifications on Assets in Maximo. The offline mode in DataSplice is really good if you have users doing inspections away from connectivity.

    Andrew,

I appreciate your response and the information you are sharing with me.

The PDF report report that you can attach to a work order sounds like what we use currently in Maximo Inspection Work Centers.  Do you prefer one over the other?   Does one have more benefits than the other?   We will definitely be using  the inspection forms on Datasplice to update meter readings/specifications on assets.  We currently use the inspection work center for Fire Safety Inspections and Fire Hydrant Inspections that are a pretty lengthy form.  I wasn't sure if the inspection forms on Datasplice  had a limit of characters.  I am very new to Datasplice.  I actually just had my training last month and really have not got to put my hands in it.  We have two configuration specialists that help but it helps me to understand what we can offer to our end users to make it more efficient.  Thanks for your help!!

    Hi Desiree,

The pdf option for reports is a bit of a hack, you push the report data to an small program that creates the pdf. The default option is cleaner but it creates only creates a link to the report\data in DataSplice. So if you moved away from DataSplice at any point the historical report data would still be in the those tables but DataSplice would have to be running to access it. If you go with the pdf method you will always have the file in Maximo.

I have worked with a number of FPLS forms implementations in DataSplice. It works well for that. DataSplice uses its own tables and the character limit can be adjusted on those. It's possible to break down long inspections into parts but have them joined in the report. If you need to match the pen and paper report to satisfy any FPLS requirements that can be done. One client didn't want extinguishers in Maximo as assets so I created a section where he could input his own list of extinguishers into a table and run inspections against that list. There is a ton of flexibility in what you can do.

All that being said, I would recommend having someone do the implementation and during that time that learn enough to manage it going forward. It can be as simple as the inspections in Work Center, but to leverage "the cool stuff" you probably want to work with someone.

All this information is greatly appreciated.  I will take this information back to our end users and customers to gather information.  Again thank you for taking the time to explain this to me.  Have a great rest of your week.
