In Maximo's PM application I noticed inclusion of work types 'CM' and 'EM'. I understand these are expected to be used on meters based PM's (not on time-based PM) but can anyone in this forum give me some practical examples where the preventive maintenance work order generates a corrective or emergency type work order.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ashok,

I believe the PM application simply shares the same worktype domain you build from organizations -> work order options -> work types.  That being said, in Condition monitoring, you can set up your monitoring point to create a work order from a PM rather than a job plan.  If you were creating a corrective or emergency work order from a meter reading being monitored in condition monitoring, the PM you choose to create the work order having those work types would be the best reason I could think of.

Welcome to hear anyone else ideas on this.

    thanks!

Thanks Eric, Now it does make sense. I did not consider the predictive maintenance aspect when looking at those values.

One other thing to consider is Condition Monitoring as you can link a condition to a PM.

I know the app is called "Preventative Maintenance" and really all it is a "Work Order Generator" and the Work Type is simply one way of categorizing the Work Order being generated.
