  • 1.  Unable to upload documents using REST API

    Hello

We are using MXLoader 8.3.5 to upload attachments to work orders. This was working fine with User/Password authentication. Now switching to REST and API keys we are getting the following error message:
Upload of bynary files is not yet supported for REST APIs.

    Any suggestions ?

    Hi MxLoader Community,

As described by Thomas (IBM), being the customer, on regular basis I have a large amount of documents which I need to attach to dedicated work orders in Maximo. This I have done with the MxLoader smoothly for more than half a year while we had the Maximo EAM version. My connection was via username + password.

Just recently we have switched to Maximo Application Suite (Maximo Manage) which demands use of API key instead. Easily I can upload numbers, descriptions etc., but the MxLoader stops when trying to upload documents with the error "Upload of bynary files is not yet supported for REST APIs."

Anyone who has managed to find a work-around?
Any upcoming development around the MxLoader, which will address this issue?

    Thanks in advance,

Hi, I'm the author of MxLoader.
Implementing this feature requires some effort and I don't have spare time at the moment to work on this.
    Sorry

    Hi Bruno,

Thanks for your reply. I had the pleasure to participate in your webinar 13 January this year, when you presented the MxLoader 8.3.

I had hoped for a solution, but I understand the priority and the efforts needed.

I'm glad that you have provided me with an answer. That drives me to find an alternative solution for this specific part of my business need.

In time, if/when you'll find time to look into a solution, please let me know. Likewise when you conduct further webinars around the MxLoader I'll be interested as well.

    Kind regards,

    /Michael

Since the support exists for attachments via SOAP, any thought about allowing the API key for SOAP? In Manage we support API keys for SOAP since all customers are using OIDC and wouldn't be able to utilize the legacy MAXAUTH/Basic Auth. For customers on 7.6.1.X using LDAP (which would likely have the security constraints in the web.xml enabled preventing us from using API keys) or customers on an earlier version of the product, they wouldn't be able to utilize API keys for SOAP.
