It is exactly the same.  Return by adding an actual material and changing the issue type to RETURN, or use the Inventory Usage application and create a document of type return or if mixed then on the row change the transaction type to return or use the button Select Items for Return, or use the Issues and Transfer application and on the row change the transaction type to return or select the button Select Items for Return.

Thanks Craig,

I have tried the suggested approaches but it is not possible to return tools in the Actual tab of the work order or through Inventory Usage application.

In Issues and Transfers, you have to change the Item Type to TOOL and change the Transaction Type to RETURN and I would also refer to the work order it was issued to.  NB: you can use the Select Reserved Items to find the tool, but you still need to change the transaction type.

Same for Inventory Usage.  NB: you can use the Select Reserved Items to find the tool, but you still need to change the transaction type.

However, these go into the MATUSETRANS table and do not show up on the work order.  Very interesting.

It looks like you have this handled, but did you ever get the reporting piece of this question answered?  Also, did you create tools and stocked tools for the same item like Item Master and Inventory?  Were all your stocked tools rotating?  What do I need to know?  Thanks!!!!
