You must have a mail account created (in your mail server) that will receive incoming emails. Then, in this application (Email Listener) you will create a new record associating that email account. You will give the username, password, protocol (POP or IMAP) so that Maximo processes new incoming emails as a new SR or a response to an existing SR in which case the email will be added as a commlog note in the SR (In our Company, Maximo understands that it is a response about an existing record, because we put the SR ID between ##, for example, ##SS-123456## and the process takes the email and adds it as a note of the SR number SS -123456).
This listener works in tandem with the LSNRBP workflow (in the Workflow Designer application) which processes reading the email and converts it into a new SR or add a Commlog (a COMMLOG RECORD) to an existing one. That's Maximo's standard.
