I'm currently working on a project where we're integrating IBM Maximo with an external system called MPOWER (used for billing). The goal is to ensure that whenever a new case is created in MPOWER, a corresponding Work Order is automatically generated in Maximo.
This process can be done through a periodic mechanism that pulls new cases from Mpower and automatically creates a Work Order for each case that hasn't been processed before.
Each Work Order in Maximo needs to be populated with relevant details from the Mpower case, such as: Load Enhancement Materials, Inspection, the connection of the installed cabin, and attached files for the Mpower Registration Number.
If anyone has experience with similar integrations between Maximo and external systems (e.g., cases, assets, incidents), I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance.
I'm especially interested in:
- Best practices for integrating external case data into Maximo
- Guidance on creating custom fields to store MPOWER-specific data
- Advice on using automation scripts or workflows to streamline the process
