Hi Raziela,
REST APIs are ideal for real time integration, and must be triggered by the external system, that is MPOWER, to create records in Maximo.
For pulling data on a scheduled basis, we can use cron tasks such as 'XMLCONSUMER/FLATFILECONSULER/IFACETABLECONSUMER'. The type of cron task depends on the end point, data format of the external system (MPOWER).
Thanks!
Sankar

Hi Sankar,
Thank you so much for the response and for sharing the documentation - it's incredibly helpful!
After reviewing it, I can see that this API provides the capabilities we need for our integration with MPOWER. The support for creating and updating Work Orders via REST, along with the ability to trigger automation scripts and workflows, fits perfectly with our use case.
We're planning to build a scheduled process that pulls new cases from MPOWER and uses the API to create corresponding Work Orders in Maximo, including additional data and attachments. This documentation gives us a great foundation to move forward.
I really appreciate the guidance - if you've worked on similar implementations and have any tips on authentication handling or structuring automation scripts, I'd love to hear more!
Best Regards,
Raziela

Hi Raziala,
To intergrate transaction data like Work Order, REST API is best suitable.
Maximo supports OSLC API to add, update records and other advanced functions such as triggering automation script, workflow etc.
Here is the documentation by IBM

Thanks!

Subject: Integrating IBM Maximo with MPOWER: Auto-Creation of Work Orders from External Cases
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on a project where we're integrating IBM Maximo with an external system called MPOWER (used for billing). The goal is to ensure that whenever a new case is created in MPOWER, a corresponding Work Order is automatically generated in Maximo.
This process can be done through a periodic mechanism that pulls new cases from Mpower and automatically creates a Work Order for each case that hasn't been processed before.
Each Work Order in Maximo needs to be populated with relevant details from the Mpower case, such as: Load Enhancement Materials, Inspection, the connection of the installed cabin, and attached files for the Mpower Registration Number.
If anyone has experience with similar integrations between Maximo and external systems (e.g., cases, assets, incidents), I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance.
I'm especially interested in:
- Best practices for integrating external case data into Maximo
- Guidance on creating custom fields to store MPOWER-specific data
- Advice on using automation scripts or workflows to streamline the process
If anyone has worked on similar integrations (e.g., with cases, incidents, or asset systems), I'd really appreciate any insights or recommendations.
Thanks in advance for your help!
