Hi,

I'm a new user of the forum and  trying to understand Maximo...

Is that possible to choose between Concurrent users and Authorized users? How and where can I do this?

Thanks

Luciano

Do you know if you're on 7.6.1.X of Maximo or Maximo Application Suite (MAS)? In MAS, there's a field on the user record that indicates whether they are Authorized or Concurrent (screenshot below). This is accessible on the Users section of the Administration module (which only a subset of your organization would have access to).

If you're on 7.6.1.X, your licensing is likely only Authorized only. We added concurrent but it's only for some license types and most customers had licenses before concurrent licenses became available. Some customers mix and match but most try to use one or the other. There is no enforcement mechanism in 7.6.1.X but there is a License Usage Monitor application to try and help report on your usage.

Hi @Steven Shull, thanks for dedicating your time and for answering me.

That’s our latest version of Maximo and last year we started the “Hybrid” model using MAS.

I tried searching in the menu:
Administration > Resources > People
and
Administration > Resources > Labor... in both cases I didn’t find this screen.

The reason is we are under the renewal process and after processed the script I received from IBM I see a lot of opportunities to reduces the AppPoints. For exempla, all Premium Users are consuming 15 AppPoint (Concurrent) and there isnt any people as Authorized (theoretically 5 AppPoints – no sharing from the “basket”)… and one of the things would be change some users to consume less AppPoints.

If you have any other tip I appreciate

Thank you

Since you're on 7.6.1.X from a technical perspective (understanding that contractually you're on MAS licensing and taking advantage of the dual entitlement), what I showed you is not available. I assume since you are calculating app points that you have installed the MAS App Point utility in your 7.6.1.X environment. IE you are seeing these point calculations in an application called "AppPoint Licensing Setup".

Assuming that is the case, if you're on the version 2 of the utility, we added a new domain value to the USERTYPE domain with a value of AUTHORIZED. Any users in Maximo that you set the USERTYPE on MAXUSER to AUTHORIZED will be treated as a named user for purposes of this utility.

When you get to MAS, please be aware that this setting will not change how users are pushed from the Manage database into MAS. All users pushed from Manage to MAS will default to CONCURRENT and need to be adjusted in MAS after the upgrade.

Hi @Steven Shull ,
Confirmed and unfortunately, we do not actually have this feature available. I learned a bit more.
Thank you so much for your help and support.
Have a great day!
