you should change the item's status to "OBSOLETE"
Steps to change an item's status to OBSOLETE:
- Navigate to the Item Master application: in Maximo.
- Search for and select the item: you wish to "delete".
- From the "Select Action" menu, choose "Change Status".
- In the "New Status" dropdown list, select "OBSOLETE".
- Consider checking the box "Roll New Status to Organizations and Inventory?": to ensure the status change is applied across all relevant records.
