  • 1.  Impact of Windows OS Upgrade in Maximo

    Posted 05-16-2023 01:26

    Hello all,

We are planning upgrade of windows server from 2012 to windows 2019.
The current maximo version is 7.6.1.3 and Websphere version is 9.0.5.13
Will there be any impact to the Maximo or Websphere?
How will the "System information" in maximo is refreshed? Will it be updated automatically otr any stpes required.
    Kindly clarify.

    Thanks!
    Sankar

Windows Server 2019 is supported for 7.6.1.3 so that shouldn't be an issue. We've always rebuilt a new image rather than try to upgrade in place so I can't let you know of any specific concerns from a WebSphere perspective but that would be transparent to Maximo. System Info pulls using APIs from WebSphere & Java so it should show the correct version automatically.

We are in the process of doing this on all our servers. We were unable to do an OS update and instead had to create new 2019 servers and install Maximo on those servers and then migrate and update the database in SQL Server (we are using MS SQL server and it has an update procedure inherent in it) and then updatedb in Maximo. If you don't use an image to do this and you choose to install Maximo from scratch you will need to bypass the Prereq check on the installation file because the older installation files don't like 2019.

    1) Click the Start menu.

    2) Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. The Administrator: Command Prompt dialog box is displayed.

    3) Enter the following command :

    set BYPASS_PRS=True
    set CTG_BYPASS_PREREQ_CHECK=true

    4) Run the following command in the same window:
    IBMIM.exe
