  • 1.  Job Plan

    Posted 5 hours ago

Hi everyone, I am new to IBM maximo.

I would like to ask whether we can use the same Job Plan for different assets if the assets have the same task. If so, can we change only the Preventive Maintenance ID rather than modifying both the Job Plan and the PM? I would be really grateful if someone response to it.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Burhan

Yes, the job plan describes the maintenance activity that needs to be performed. It can be used across many different assets, even different types of assets depending on the type of job plan being defined. It can be referenced on a PM but is not required to be associated to a PM. IE you can have job plans that are done as needed rather than based on a schedule.

The PM record is defining the frequency the maintenance is required to be performed on a specific asset, location, or route (a collection of assets and/or locations). It can reference a job plan and can even use what is called job plan sequence to use a different job plan based on the interval. For example, you can use job plan A monthly, job plan B quarterly (every 3 months), and job plan C annually (every 12 months).

If you have a lot of similar assets that need the same preventive maintenance schedules, you may want to look at Master PMs (with or without Asset Templates). This can help you manage all the PM records when the same maintenance needs to be performed on each of the assets.
