Dear Maximo Inventory Experts,

one of our client have the basic version of Maximo 7.6  with no special addons.

They  have identified several duplicate items in inventory and want to Merge Items.

I am  looking for guidance on the proper procedure to merge these items. Specifically, I am concerns about how to handle factors such as average cost, inventory balances, GL account balances, and any other potential impacts this merge might have.

I apologize if this is a basic question, as I am relatively new to these types of activities in Maximo.

I'm curious to hear how other people deal with this, as well. We have quite a few duplicate items in item master and inventory. When we find them, we have to manually combine costs, vendor info, current balances, instances in which the item is on an asset's spare parts list, etc. We then mark the item OBSOLETE with a memo note referencing the correct item to use. It's tedious, and results in lost inventory transaction history. 

Does anyone have a more efficient way to handle this?
