  • 1.  Meter Based PMs - Interaction with unplanned Work Order

    Posted 09-12-2023 23:27

    Hi,

I have a meter based PM that requires a component of larger asset to be replaced every 14,000 run hours. The component is set up as a item mater and inventory record and recorded in the job plan associated to the meter based PM.

We have an integration with our scada system that automatically transfer run hour data once a day from Scada to the Maximo meter associated with the asset on the meter based PMs.

The meter based PM generates a work order and when this work order is closed the counter of hours to go until the next changed out it due resets to 0( is this how it works?)

However, in practise we sometime get an unplanned work order to replaced the component before it has reached its 14,000 hour. assume the unplanned work order is associated to the correct asset record.

How do I get this unplanned work order to automatically re start the clock on determining when the 14,000 hour based replacement is due? currently the meter based PM will forecast the wrong replacement date as the component was replaced earlier on a un planned work order

Meters don't get reset until you will do Rollover which I don't think you do. Meter readings gets added so first day it will be 0 then 14000, then 28000 and so on...

On every 14000 frequency it will create WO. If you get any unplanned WO in between then you need to do meter reading entry against this asset manually. From Work order app > Enter Meter Reading shall be used and put the entry at that point of time, so that it can be added. and subsequently you get the next reading automatically at defined frequency, For this process all make sure meter reading type set for this particular meter is ACTUAL and not Delta.

A UC work order cannot reset the counter on a PM that is not associated with it.  You can go to the PM and manually adjust the counter for the last reading by using "Set Reading At Last WO" and enter the current reading.  That virtually resets the counter so that the full PM Frequency (in your example 14,000 hours) is needed before it is due again.

Taran, Look up PM Alert Leads.  It may not be a good option since your frequency is 14K hrs.  If you set the alert to 14K, every time someone creates an unplanned WO, they'll get a notification that a PM is coming 'due'.  They can then pull the 14K replacement PM to be performed if it is a replacement.  And if it's not, they can just ignore the message.  But that takes training the end user, so you might as well train them on my next paragraph.

For the most part, our users know their equipment's maintenance plans and know that if they're doing unplanned work and there's an existing PM for that same type of work, to pull the PM forward.  That will keep the PM schedule accurate.
