Hi Maximo Open Forum,
Did you know many Maximo applications include a Duplicate option under More Actions? This feature is available in both Maximo 7.6 and Maximo Application Suite. Instead of starting from scratch, you can copy an existing record and adjust the details accordingly.
Common use cases:
- Creating users who have similar roles, sites, etc
- The Assets and Locations apps when building similar records
- Work Orders when work is repetitive
How this action can save costly mistakes:
A work order may get closed by mistake or more work is needed after the work order is closed. Instead of recreating another work order, just duplicate the closed one and change the status.
The new work order keeps the description, asset, location, job plan, and other details so you do not have to re enter them. No need to fix anything on the backend via SQL, just use the duplicate button.
Be careful, IBM put this action right above the "Delete Action"... :)
