Hello Andrew,
Yesterday, I had a very good discussion with Gavin and Nate in regards to this. The solution is easier than it looks and it doesn't involve managing multiple records, e.g., PMs, Job Plans, Work Orders, Etc. Gavin presented a process where we can handle everything in a single work order.
As a software developer, I usually approach issues/scenarios like this from a technical standpoint. However, time has proven to me that not everything requires a configuration change. A functional approach to the situation can be the right path to follow...
For my colleagues in this community, Andrew and I work together (lol). I'm aware of PM Hierarchy, Routes, Changes to workflow, etc. However, there are some factors to consider (particular to our system configuration). Here's what we think it should accomplish the requirements:
- Once the work order is generated (including the filters pre-planned) the warehouse will issue, and stage the filters accordingly...
- The staging and completion of the reservation within Inventory Usage will then trigger a work order status change to indicate the filters have been staged.
- Group 2 will perform the replacement and complete the work order (not closing it, just completing it...)
- Based on the new status of the work order, Group 1 will dispose of the old filters and add the time it took to the work order.
- Group 1 will then route the work order to its final status (closed)
Note: If we run out of filters for any reason, this process will change. Our system will automatically change the work order status to 'waiting for parts/material' if we can't fulfill the order. Our warehouse will make the necessary adjustments in its re-order process to ensure stock levels are optimal for this work.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. As always, I'm open to evaluate other recommendations.
Thanks!
