Good Afternoon,

I'm having a lot of trouble finding information on installing BIRT RCP Designer.

It appears that it must be run within Eclipse IDE.

I was hoping to just install BIRT standalone (as some old videos suggested), but I'm starting to get the feeling not possible.

Can anyone provide any insight into BIRT ? or is BIRT old news ?

Thanks

Hello Keith,

you did not specify Maximo version.

Check these links:

Eclipse 4.8 for Maximo Application Suite 8.x & Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.2 & 7.6.1.3

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/setting-eclipse-48-maximo-application-suite-8x-maximo-asset-management-7612-7613

Eclipse 4.3.1 for Maximo 7.6

Note that with BIRT 4.3.1 for Maximo 7.6 you must also use Java 7 for the Eclipse runtime and that the BIRT version of Eclipse is available for Windows only.

Good Afternoon,

Maximo 7.6.1.2 hosted with Projtech, MSSQL Server v13

Thank you for the links and insights.

I did get BIRT v4.10 installed WIN10 without Exclipse framework.

However,  I'm having some trouble setting up a new datasource.

I took the mxe.db.url property and used that for my DB URL.

When I test the connection it fails stating check connection parameters. I have tweaked the DB URL as suggested by a few videos out there.

Any suggests ?

Much Thanks

You need to download the version of BIRT that is specific to your environment, in this case 4.3.1 since you're using 7.6.1.2. I don't know that you will have issues using a newer version like 4.10 when you modify 4.3.1 reports but you could. You can download the 4.3.1 media here: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/birt-report-designer-431

If you haven't already, you should open a support ticket with Projetech. There are some files from the Maximo install that you must extract into BIRT to be able to preview reports along with you probably want the out of the box reports & library files. The mxe.db.url, user, password, etc. that you need to use will be what you have been given for SQL Gateway, not what you see in Maximo. It's been a while since I worked at Projetech but I believe we had a PDF document that walked you through the steps of how to configure it.
