Hi team!

Does Maximo have the ability to easily transfer all the inventory from one storeroom to another?

We are in a situation were we need to move about 2000 different items from one storeroom to another and I do not see any mass move inventory transfer options.

The only thing I can think of is possibly use the MIF to data load usage lines in the Inventory usage app.  Wondering how people have pulled this off?

Thanks!

Hey Eric!
As long as business rules are followed, you can use MXLoader.  Transactions will not follow and remain in the respective transaction tables. All Invvendor table data remains the same as long as the set remains the same. Invbalances will need to have the storloc and siteid  and binnum (if needed) fields updated.  Make sure all PO's are received/completed/closed and nothing left on open PR's with the item number. Also, remove the item reference on any WAPPR work orders.  Check the reservations for each item and make sure to remove the reservation from the Invreserve table before moving.
Mass moves of inventory are not in compliance with Sarbannes-Oxley and cannot be done OOTB.
Hope this helps!

Thank you Gina, although we are not SOX compliant, it is good practice to keep those standards.  This is one of those rules I was not aware of.  Having all are PR's and PO's closed is probably going to be the hardest thing for us to make this move happen, if it ever does.

The store room is being physically moved from one building to another, and the building number was used as the location name in maximo.  It cannot be renamed (easily).  Plus I figured that we would want to have a record that everything physically moved anyway.  I suppose a mass move like this typically makes an auditor or compliance office driven absolutely crazy.  Something I never thought of before.

Thanks again!
