Hi,

I created Rotating Assets (having a reference of a rotating item) via following methods:

  • Manually
  • Receiving Rotating Item voa PO Receiving and creating serialized Rotating Assets
  • Generating Assets via Asset Template (item number is enabled on it)

After this, the Rotating Assets were moved to OPERATING status.

Now I'd like to issue any of the Rotating Asset. In Inventory, I opened the Rotating Item and opened "Issue Current Item" dialogue. The Rotating Asset field became mandatory automatically considering the item was a Rotating Item. When I used Select Value on the Rotating Asset field, there was no Asset available for this rotating item although there are 8 Rotating Assets created via this Rotating Item.

When I intentionally provide one of the Rotating Asset numbers, Maximo raises the following error:

"You entered: 20649384

Rotating Asset 20649384 is not a rotating asset. (BMXAA0151)

"

I tried a lot to find the resolution on internet, but couldn't find the resolution.

Would appreciate if you have experienced this and resolved before.

Thanks,

Shahid

Hi Shahid,

You cannot issue from an operating location, only from a storeroom. Looking at your picture, they appear to be in an operating location.  This means you can only move the asset.  If you want success, then you have to first move the assets to a storeroom.

Hello Shahid,

As per my understanding Rotating Asset Field's (select value) in Issue Current Item dialog will show list of rotating assets in the store room location.

Using the Issue Current Item , you would be able to issue the rotating asset from inventory to operating location.

I could see from the screenshots that rotating assets are not in inventory location and hence it is not listing in the select value of rotating asset field of Issue Current Item Dialog.

I believe the assets are already in the operating location. Are you looking to move to other operating location ? If yes you can use the Move/Modify Asset action from asset application and move the rotating asset from one location to other location.

Hope it clarifies your question !!

Did you check if Asset is in same site as that of store location you are trying it issue  apart from status and other generic checks?

Also did you tried with using Inventory Usage application ?

Dear @Tinnokesh AP / @Craig Kokay,

Thanks for your replies.

The Location field of an Asset doesn't list the Storeroom Locations. Already the rotating item referenced on the asset is having an associated storeroom and has a balance in it via the procurement receiving.

Therefore, at the time of Asset creation, how I can set its location as the storeroom location as well (although the rotating item is already assigned to the storeroom)?

Thanks,

Shahid

Dear @Prashant Bavane,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes the site is same for both asset and the storeroom.

I have found the storeroom location in the Asset Location list, and moved the asset to it via the "Move/modify Asset" option but the location on the asset record didn't change.

(screenshot is attached)

Besides let me look into if any automation script is preventing this to happen.

Thanks,

Shahid

Shahid,

You mentioned that you "Generating Assets via Asset Template".  And that the issue screen is blank (ie. not showing the assets).  To me, it sounds like you did not complete the Goods Receipts.  After you perform the Goods Receipts, there's an action called "Receive Rotating Items" on the same receiving screen.  That will create the Assets and drop it into the Storeroom indicated by your PO.  Then you go to the Asset Template and "Apply to Existing Assets", not Generate Assets, and point to the new Assets you just received into Storeroom Inventory.  If you had "Generated Assets" via the Asset Template, then you just made a set of assets with no ties to the PO, and not in Inventory, therefore, cannot be Issued.

To confirm, go back to Receiving screen for that PO.  Does it say "ASSET" in the Inspection Status column?  If so, that means it's waiting for an Asset number to be assigned.  Hit the Receive Rotating Items action to create the Assets.

Hi Shahid,

Maximo does not always refresh the record, so you cannot see the applied update.  This is what has occurred in this case.  Simply refresh the record.

The root of the problem is that you needed to assign the asset's location as the storeroom.  If you have assigned any other type of location, then you cannot issue it, as it is not within a storeroom.  If you have placed the asset into an incorrect location, then you need to use the Move/Modify or Swap Assets functionality, depending on your need.
