We have 3 maximo environments in our VMWare system, Maxprod, Maxtest and Maxdev. We have received an IFix from IBM to install on our system to fix some issues we are having with maximo 7.6.1. We would like to clone the test environment in VMWare to install the fix and test the heck out of it before installing it in Prod. We have tried to clone in the past and rename the environment but haven't been able to get all the pieces renamed so we have to switch back and forth between the original and the clone and can't have them both running at the same time. Has anyone been able to successfully do this or know how to do it? I am sorry if I have asked this question in the wrong community and need to ask it some where else. Thanks for any help that can be given.

Hi,

We haven't been able to completely clone the environments, but you can attempt this:

1. Clone the VM using your infra team.
2. Change the IP references in you WebSphere (assuming your WebSphere is also running on the same machine)
Changing the hostname of a Maximo WebSphere Application Server – A3J Group
3. Change the references to the new ip host as applicable in your property files.
4. Renaming and clone works when your environment doesnt have HTTPS enabled.

Its quite a challenge, but you can give it a try. Long run, have a separate R&D environment to test all these changes.

Hi Randy,
What about
1. create VM snap
2. Install patch
3. Test if problem is fixed by patch installed
4. If not revert VMs from VM snap.

Thank you
