Is it possible to apply asset templates to assets with the use of automation script?

I tried 

applyTemplateOnExistingAssets

But it results in an error.

The PlusC classes are (I think) for the Calibration solution and you would need that deployed to use that class / method.  Creating a function that looks up an existing asset and applies some select attributes to the current asset as a template would be pretty easy and if you want an example of how to do that I can provide it.

Beyond that you could get more fancy and develop a full templating application depending on how sophisticated your requirements are.

Do you have a template already defined, do you have calibration available?

I have a similar ask. I'm looking for an automation script that I can apply Asset Templates to existing assets without overwriting their existing specification data.
