Hello More Community,
Back in October 2025, we attempted to upgrade our custom GMTECHNICIAN application (cloned from TECHNICIAN) from 9.0.14 to 9.1. During that effort, we ran into several issues-most notably the inability to upload our ZIP package due to the 500 KB server upload limit and using the Migration of prior configurations functionality. IBM had previously indicated that upload process would be resolved in 9.1.5, but issues still appear to be in place. Our custom package (GMTECHMOBILE__ver‑9.0.5.0.zip) is over 20 MB, so the size limit remains a blocker.
We have since upgraded our environment to MAS Manage 9.1.7 and are preparing to revisit the custom mobile application upgrade as part of our migration. Ensuring that our GMTECHNICIAN mobile app can be upgraded and deployed successfully is essential before we move forward.
Is anyone in the community aware of the most current documentation or tips and tricks that outlines the full process for upgrading and deploying a custom mobile application in MAS Manage 9.1.7? I have several documents from earlier discussions, but I assume the guidance has evolved.
Specifically, we are looking for clarity on:
- Migration of prior configurations
- What exactly does this option do?
- Does it clone the OOB TECHMOBILE app, merge delta files from the custom app, and then rename it back to the custom app?
- There was a manual Workaround for disabled "Migrate Prior Configurations" button on duplicated applications in Application Configuration 9.1.0. Users had to run the node graphite-tools.js tool manually. Is that still required?
- Are we still responsible for maintaining any custom .js modifications?
- Uploading the existing custom application package
- Why is the upload still limited to 500 KB, and is there updated guidance on how to handle larger packages?
- Applying delta files
- Is this step still required if configuration migration is used, or has the process changed in 9.1.7?
Any updated documentation, experience, or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
