  • 1.  Setting up multiple warranties per asset

    Posted 20 days ago

    Hi,

What we have are a bunch of new bus assets in Maximo.  Being buses they each have multiple warranties associated with them.  For example, the battery has a 4 year warranty, the LED lights have a 7 year warranty, etc.

What would be the first steps to setting this up, so that when a new Work Order is created for each asset, we know in Maximo that warranties are applicable.

I've watched a few videos on YouTube, but still a little confused on the topic....Warranty Contract, Asset Warranty Contract, Item Warranty Contract??  Not really sure where to start.

    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

If you have the Transportation industry solution (which I'm assuming you do) then Asset Warranty Contracts would be the way to go.  You can create a contract for your buses, then add multiple lines to represent the various levels of warranty included.  You can also associate the component code for each line, so that as you write work orders for those components the warranty situation is recognized.
