There are times when I have to cancel a single Work Order due to valid reasons (yesterdays shift cancellation due to a blizzard). I get the warning
"BMXAA8231I - If you cancel the work order, the preventive maintenance record is not reinstated. Do you want to continue?"

Because we generate Work Orders 42 days in advance and this is a single daily PM Work Order, I assume this will have no impact because I do not want this Work Order re-generated? We already have numerous daily Work Orders generated and the Estimated next due date is well established.

Am I interpreting this correctly? I do occasionally have to cancel and entire series of WO's and I have entered a new "Extended Date" and checked "Adjust Next Due Date?" to make the entire series recreate.

For your scenario, you're interpreting it correctly. If you're generating 42 days in advance and just need to cancel a single daily PM WO (like for a blizzard), canceling it will not roll back or regenerate that occurrence.

The warning simply means Maximo will not reinstate or reschedule the PM based on that canceled WO. Your approach for canceling an entire series using Extended Date and checking Adjust Next Due Date is also the correct way to rebuild the schedule.
