Hi,

Usually the Service Item on a PO is mentioned as of quantity=1 along with the unit cost=999. There are some cases that the vendor sends invoice of the partial amount of the Line Cost.

On the other hand, in Maximo, we can do receiving against quantity, like if I would like to receive 1000 of the line cost 10000 then quantity should be 0.1. But not all cases are like this and the invoice amount cannot match with the partial quantity percentage.\

My question is that what is the best practice in Maximo procurement for partial receiving of a Service Item? Some quantities have to be more than two decimal places to match with the correct amount of invoice like 0.255 but Maximo only considers two decimal places formula to calculate the receiving amount.

Best regards,

Hi Shahid

Maximo is quite happy to receive any partial receipt, so there is no problem there.

You mentioned that you would like to receive 1,000 out of 10,000, but that you would have to calculate the quantity to be 0.1 (as Maximo would not do that).  Again, not an issue, but you may want to consider 'swapping' the qty and the unit cost around.  This way you enter a qty of 10,000 and a unit cost of $1.00.  This can make accountants do their head in, but it's a simple solution when you do a receipt.

As for the decimal places, that's easy solved.  In Database Configuration there is a Field Length and Format option, which you can change the scale to 3 or even 4.  Just make sure before you run this configuration that you have a good backup.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the detailed reply. For swapping, it seems that from the beginning, on the PR/PO, the quantity will have to be kept like you mentioned and the Unit Cost will always be $1.

Only then we'll be able to achieve the goal. Kindly confirm.

Thanks,

Shahid
